¡Olé! Did you join us for our recent paella party?
At The Fancy Pantry, we’re passionate about bringing international flavors to the local community. We just love to create new, exciting dishes for our customers!
Inspired by the wonderful freshness of Spanish cuisine, owner Carlos (below, on the left) cooked up a HUGE dish of authentic, flavorful paella.
Widely regarded as Spain’s national dish, paella (pronounced pah-EH-yah) can be made with seafood, meat or vegetables, cooked over time with rice and seasonings such as saffron and rosemary.
Paella is thought to have originated in the mid-19th century on the east coast of Spain, close to the city of Valencia. It’s traditionally cooked in a large shallow pan, allowing all of the delicious flavors to come together to create a taste like no other.
Paella is a Valencian word, derived from the Old French word paelle for pan, which in turn comes from the Latin word patella for pan.
Carlos’ incredible paella was packed with jumbo shrimp, squid, mahi-mahi, hearts of palm, red and yellow bell peppers and garnished with plenty of parsley. We served it with a side of white rice to absorb all of the delicious sauce.
The proof is in the eating, so what was the verdict? Thumbs up all round! Our customers enjoyed Carlos’ paella so much that we sold out of it, with many to-go orders and people taking extra portions home.
We’d like to thank everyone who stopped by to dine with us, and we can’t wait to welcome you again soon!
